Donate Your Support

New Forest Basics Bank is 100% dependent on the generosity of the community. Without your help we cannot provide for those in our area who need it.

In addition to donating food and basics, there are many other ways in which you could support our Food Bank. Become a Volunteer, Member, Corporate Member or help us Fundraise.

BECOME A VOLUNTEER

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer at the food bank.

We are currently in the fortunate position to have sufficient volunteers for packing parcels. You are welcome to express your interest to volunteer as a packer, however you will be placed on a waiting list. If you are interested in delivering parcels or supporting us in some other way, please indicate this on your application as these will be prioritised. All applications are subject to two satisfactory references - see more information on the application form.

We operate an online rota which allows you to sign up for rota spots at times that work for your diary. You don’t have to sign up for the same spot every week: it is completely flexible. Most spots involve a two hour time commitment between 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday.

There are many ways in which volunteers can help, for example:

  • food packing and shelf stacking – involves picking and packing food parcels based on the referrals received by the person manning the office updating the system as you go, restocking the shelves with incoming food, tidying the shelves so all food types are in the right place, keeping the hall tidy etc. Read the volunteer role description

  • delivering parcels – involves delivering food parcels to recipients across the southern part of the New Forest. It involves some lifting of heavy bags to your vehicle and from your vehicle to the property you are delivering to. Read the volunteer role description

  • office – involves manning the desk in the office, answering the telephone and dealing with emails, setting up any referrals on the computer system, dealing with visitors etc.

BECOME A FUNDRAISER

Across the Southern New Forest, we offer vital support to people in need of food and basic items. We collaborate with many community groups that generously collect cash and food donations, provide venues, volunteers and more.

The support of our local community is critical to our Food Bank. We very much welcome the support of our local community groups, businesses, schools and churches.

COMMUNITY FUNDRAISING

We welcome cash or cheque donations from collections or challenges. Runners, bakers, adventurers, quizzers, cyclists, knitters, readers, party people and anyone else with a great fundraising idea, unite and raise funds for the New Forest Basics Bank!

Please transfer funds into our account: New Forest Basics Bank, HSBC, sort code 40-30-36 and account number 61366823. Kindly pop in a reference and do send us an email to let us know the background of your donation. Alternatively, cash or cheques can be dropped off between 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday. Paper receipts are available upon request.

SET UP A DONATION POINT

If you have your own space, please consider creating a donation point for food and other essentials for the New Forest Basics Bank. Kindly arrange for donations to be dropped off regularly to the Food Bank.

Alternatively, this could be a one-off donation point linked to an event such as a Harvest Festival, Christmas, a community fundraiser or your own event. For large donations of food (more than four shopping trolleys), please contact us in advance to arrange delivery.

BUSINESSES

We warmly welcome support in-kind from businesses. This support can be through expertise or services. Examples are website expertise, allowing usage of company transportation etc. We also very much welcome volunteers from businesses who encourage their staff to volunteer some of their working days with charities that are meaningful to them. Email our office to work out how we might collaborate.

Moreover, we wholeheartedly welcome monetary donations from businesses. This can be a regular monthly donation or a one-off. Please email to start a conversation about how you might support us.
